SMDs are more efficient than COBs. Surface Mount Diode allows an electric current to flow in one direction while blocking the current in the reverse direction. It gives reliable performance and is easy to assemble. These type of LEDs are mounted on an aluminum substrate and enveloped in an epoxy resin.  SMD LEDs appear more flat, come with a longer lifespan and consume up to 75 percent less energy.  It requires wire leads to hold them in place. It’s known for its low maintenance and production costs.
